Taking the Bait: Another Open Letter to an Idiot

(Author's Note: Hate to watse my time on this, seeing as how I've been away for do long. Working the graveyard shift for the last month made it difficult to post as I spent lots of daytime sleeping. Hopefully will be around more, but not for this crap. Honestly "Letterman's from New York" is the justification? Pathetic. Anyway, here we go...... tb)

Jim,
Once again I gave you a chance to go away quietly by posting a New York Dolls piece (Remember I wrote that we could either get into this egofest of stupidity or talk about the New York Doll? Remember that? That was a hint.) which you responded to, initially at least, appropriatley if not w/any real insight or rockcrit talent, but then for some reason you bring up Sarah Palin.

What the fuck does Sarah Palin have to do w/the New York Dolls, apart from the fact that neither she nor David JoHansen has any right to be (snicker) President and, now that I think of it, actually both do cut fine figures in evening gowns? But, really Jim, do you actually believe that Palin has the brains, nevermind the chops, to lead this, or any, country? I sincerely hope you only post that tripe to provoke me, cause you know I, and most of America, surely the America that thinks, think Palin is a fool. Joe the Plumber (neither a plumber, nor named Joe, remember?) as VP?

 Really?

If that's truly the case, if you truly believe that Sarah Palin represents the future of America; is one of the great minds of her generation; etc. then I have absolutely nothing to say to you 'cause you have clearly, clearly I say, lost yr mind. You seem to have the political instincts of a 6 yr old - 'Ooooooh, pretty lady loves guns and god. Me vote for pretty lady'- and if you are just trying to provoke me, then just grow the fuck up, OK?

Although I can see how you might actually really support Palin as she represents 1950's America, which somehow has become Avalon for the ancient leaders of the Republican Party (Cheney, Gingrich, and -snicker again- Limbaugh). The Birth Certificate Denial Brigade's working the same side of the loyalty street as the McCarthy Hearings, and I have to ask - at long last, sir, have you no sense of decency? Palin is the Mary Tyler-Moore (playing Laura Petrie, I might add, Mary Richards being too independent minded) that the old goats you support put out front as 'proof' that they support women, if not women's rights. Much like they unleashed the hysterical Michael Steele into the zeitgeist as if to say 'Hey, we got us a black guy, too! And he's off the hook and hizzle!!!' And Joe the Plumber is an opportunistic nobody w/the same publicist as Grand Funk Railroad and would be lucky to end up on 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here' by yr birthday in 2012.

Palin should go as far as 'Dancing w/the Stars', but no farther. (And yes, I realize that I, too, am an opportunistic nobody, but I'd never think so much of myself as to get a publicist. Never trust a revolutionary w/a publicist. Or a tour bus. Rage Against my Aunt Fanny!)

Yr wishes for the resumption of a Christian Republican regime on America's shores is just that, wishful thinking. You yearn for the days when women did what men told them and America's greatness was unquestioned. Perhaps you want the White House 'white' again? Is that the problem, bunky? And if yr gonna fantasize, why settle for Palin? Pope Benedict for President in 2012!!! That's all that'll satisfy yr backward, Catholic ass, isn't it? Benny the Dick in 2012!!!!! Women as chattel, just like Year One when we knew what we were doing? The public stoning of gays because they're an abomifuckingnation? The end to abortion, leading to thousands of unwanted births, further choking an already dangerously overpopulated planet? Will you not be satisfied until 200,000 people starve to death every night??? Would that be OK w/you as long as they had all accepted Jesus???? I mean, that's all that matters, right? As long as we ALL accept Jesus under Jim Muglia's terms then we can all.........

 Fuck the niggers
 Fuck the Jews
 Fuck the faggots
 Fuck the poor
 Fuck women's rights
 Fuck Human Rights
 Fuck Islam
 Fuck Buddism
 Fuck Socialism
and most impotantly, fuck ME. Because I am the center of the universe, you see due to the indisputable truth (hahahaha) that it unfolds around me. And of course you can say the same thing. And so can you and you and you etc. Man if I ever nail this burgeoning philosophy into a religion, I could make millions.

And you all know I could if I set my mind to it, don't you?

Anyway, I guess I can understand yr attraction to both Palin and Jesus. They're both pretty hot. But they're both about as relevant to me in 2009 as you and yr endless drivel. The '50's are over and time is moving past yr old tired ideas. Mine, too, so don't feel like the Lone Ranger. The Christian Right is crumbling because, much like the Moral Majority from which it sprung, it is neither Christian nor right. The Republican Party, yr Party, has been reduced to an impotent enclave for racist and sexist morons and I give the lady who told McCain that she didn't trust Obama because '.... he's an Arab' as proof of this, and McCain's idiotic and racist answer 'No ma'am, he's a good man' (as if there was no way an Arab could possibly be a good man) as further proof. If Captain Plane Crash McCain and the Idiot Palin are the best your Party can come up with, well you will lose. Hell, you did lose. America's hipper than you or I ever thought and will not fall for the sexist, fascist crap coming out of the G.O.P. these days.

But, if we're taking bets on 2012, I'll predict that Jeb Bush will be the Republican's sacrificial lamb, so to speak, because if he hasn't been assassinated by one of yr crackpot friends by them, Obama will be re-elected. And, if one of your punkass, beer drinking, wife beating, god fearing, bible thumping, gay bashing asshole brethren do bust a cap in the brother's ass, then say hello to President Clinton. Hillary Clinton, that is.

And while yr saying hello to that, please just say goodbye to this page, OK? If you don't want to grow up, that's yr choice, but some of us are moving forward and have no use for you or what you call ideas.

Thou Shalt Not Kill, Remember?

(Sorry it's been a while. Been working graveyards, Still well and sober and only a little depressed at the luge run we call current events... tim)

Well, the militant wings of the so-called pro life movement has once again endorsed a murder. While reasonable people might decry the murder of Dr. George Tiller in that Kansas church, right wing extremists like Randall Terry of Operation Rescue praise the act w/faint damnation by decrying it in headline and then fine print their smug certitude and satisfaction by qualifying their supposed outrage by, in Terry's case, reminding us that "....Tiller was a mass murderer and ...... horrifyingly, has reaped what he sowed."

Just like a Christofascist to invoke "Holy Scripture" to justify a murder. Reaped what he sowed, indeed. Whether you agree w/a woman's right to choose or not, Dr. Tiller was a private citizen providing a LEGAL medical service. The man who shot him is nothing less than a domestic terrorist, and by that I mean one who justifies the heinous act of murder by claiming to serve a larger Truth.

Which is, of course, bullshit. Abortion is a terrible thing. As a man I cannot imagine the pain a woman goes through to make the decision to kill their baby (because, euphemisms aside, that is what their doing), but I still believe that the choice belongs to the woman and that, if there is a God (which I personally do not believe there is), it's between that suppose deity and the woman and doctors involved to recriminate. Not some Fox News fueled religious wingnut w/a gun.

That's right, I said Fox News fueled religious wingnut. Bill O'Reilly, among others on that ridiculous network have repeatedly referred to Dr. Tiller as a 'baby killer' and compared him to Hitler and Al Qaeda thus inflaming their simple minded base's misplaced passions which often, certainly in this case, incited at least one 'true believer' to kill. I've been made aware of a website called 'tillerthekiller.com' where an alarmingly large number of knuckle dragging Neanderthals openly celebrated the murder of this man, all in the guise of divine retribution.

 'Thou Shalt Not Kill', remember?

I am disgusted by many things, especially the tendency of the ultra religious Right to claim the moral high ground to defend everything from pedophilia to murder, but it has never occured to me to shoot one. I accuse Fox News, Operation Rescue and any number of bible thumping clergy of formenting an enviornment where said knuckle dragging Neanderthals somehow feel it's OK to kill in the name of some Lord, all the while chanting the refrain/lie that 'all life is sacred'.

Websites like The Army of God have been praising the murder, calling Dr. Tiller's (alleged) assassin Scott Roeder 'an American Hero'. Calling the murders of doctors who peform the LEGAL medical service of abortion 'justifiable homicide'.

While I know that not ALL self-identified Christians are this twisted, too many of them are. This only reinforces my belief that Deism of all stripes is a dangerous thing because it gives the small minded a fantasy based sense of moral entitlement that winds up justifying murder everywhere from Iraq to Kansas.

 'Thou Shalt Not Kill', remember?

Scott Roeder acted alone, true. But the far right media and segments of the Anti-Abortion, so called Pro Life movement, share responsibility. And if you believe in a god that gives free passes on the murders of those you disagree with, then so do you.

( Author's Note:  Sorry it's been a while. Been working graveyards at work and sleeping days.  Still well and sober but laptop has virus and 'net connect is even more hit and miss than usual. Some recording done, more writing thus far. Obviously wrote this before the shooting at the Holocaust Museum. Working on the 'I told you so' post as we speak. A little depressed but still swinging............................. tim)
